Hi, I’m Kenya

Counsellor, Therapist in Victoria, BC

MSW, BSW, RSW

I’m a Registered Social Worker with the BCCSW (#16484). I have been in the human services field since 2014. With over a decade of experience helping individuals who have experienced domestic violence, trauma, addictions, youth that have been put in the care of children services, youth treatment facilities, individuals with brain injuries, unhoused individuals, and working on a mental health crisis team.

I obtained my diploma of Social Work from Medicine Hat College, I then went on to complete my Bachelors of Social Work through University of Calgary, and I completed my Masters of Social Work through Dalhousie University.

I am from Alberta originally. I moved to Victoria in 2023 and I am lucky enough to call Vancouver Island home. When I am not in therapist mode, I enjoy going to yoga, being in nature, going for hikes, surfing, being creative, and spending time with loved ones.

I am passionate about helping people find their strength and voice again. I am so happy you’re here and I hope you know how brave you are to start this self healing journey. I hope this feels like a safe and supportive space for use to embark on this really meaningful journey together.

My Approach

My approach to therapy is strength-based and rooted in a trauma-informed lens. I primarily draw from Narrative Therapy, which means I focus on highlighting your strengths and exploring alternative perspectives to the stories you tell yourself. I listen deeply, with an understanding of how past trauma can shape present-day experiences.

I also incorporate Attachment-Based Therapy to help you explore how early attachment patterns may be influencing your relationships and current life dynamics. In addition, I integrate Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, where we work together to identify and understand the different “parts” of yourself—often younger versions—that may be showing up and affecting your current experiences.

A core passion of mine is the mind-body connection. I believe that mental and physical health are deeply interconnected. In our work together, I often invite you to check in with your body, as reconnecting with physical sensations can be a powerful way to feel more grounded and whole—especially when our minds and bodies feel disconnected.

Above all, my hope is that you feel safe to show up exactly as you are, no matter where you find yourself on your journey. As your therapist, I see my role as walking alongside you—supporting you through your unique process of healing, self-discovery, and growth. There is no “right” place to start—only your own path, at your own pace.
